Maestro Wu D-2 filet knife is created from artillery shells from Kinmen Island. This knife is perfect for scaling and cutting fish, but also works great for meats.
Maestro Wu's was created in 1937 by Wu Chao-hsi, after inheriting his father's knife business. Because of steel shortage, Mr. Wu began collecting the artillery shells that were commonly found on Kinmen island. The steel that made up the artillery shells are denser than common steel, thus resulting in a strong knife blade. Each artillery shell can make at least 60 knives!
